More with the moving

We also saved lots of money by moving. In our oh-so-hip and tiny house, we were stretched pretty thin. Now, we have buffer - not tons of buffer, but definitely more.

Our house was built in 1958 and is a custom ranch-style design. The kitchen, while a galley, is big and open to the dining area and great room (it's more than just a living room -it's a great room!). The great room is framed by one long wall of sliding glass doors (30 feet, maybe) and one rock-wall fireplace (maybe 20 feet). And did I mention the wood paneling? No, I didn't, but I should have because it is LOVELY!

I know that normally, wood paneling and lovely are antonyms, but truly, it's not the case here. The wood is a really beautiful color and has been cared for lovingly. The woman who lived here for the last 40 years would polish it with Murphy's Oil on a regular basis. In fact, she was a recluse, so the neighbors were never invited in, but many of them had heard about the LOVELY WOOD and were eager to see it once we moved in - there was quite a line of folks that first weekend.

The green carpet from 1962, which had enjoyed her regular smoking habit lo those 40 years, was not as lovely. Nor the vintage draperies. Those had to go, and fast.
