Not my real post*

I haven't read Twilight, and I don't intend to. I like your escape novels as much as the next person, but I can't really get behind sexualizing teens in the way this book seems to, nor the messages about sex and gender directed to teens. Flea put together some stellar reviews from other sources, so I'm directing you her way:

Hey, have you read the Twilight books?

* I don't think. Unless I get that lazy. Which is entirely possible.

my favorite - [I]t's imperative that Ed avoid direct sunlight because, when it hits him, he becomes EVEN MORE GORGEOUS. I am so totally not making this up. Also, he's a good vampire, insofar as he doesn't eat people. But he really, really wants to. Hence the brooding. And to make matters worse, he wants to eat Belle more than anyone, because apparently she has great smelling blood. But he's also in love with her, you see. Oh my goodness, what a pickle! It's as if you or I were dating an apple fritter.

Also...I have seen the Twilight movie and read the 2nd book in the series, New Moon. They are ridiculous but also ridiculously easy/fast to read (notice how I too don't use my thesaurus)

No, I haven't read them, but my daughter (13) would like to, after seeing the movie. I'm conflicted--I'll check out these reviews. Thanks!
